Software engineering for the built environment.

We design and run the software that sits between buildings and the people who operate them: automation integrations, facilities-management platforms, and the cloud and data systems behind them.

What we build

Three disciplines, usually combined on the same engagement.

Building automation integration

Niagara 4 modules and station tooling, BACnet and Modbus edge services, secure remote access to on-site controllers, and AI assistants that let operators query live plant in plain language.

  • BACnet
  • Modbus
  • oBIX
  • MCP

Facilities-management platforms

Multi-tenant, white-label web platforms for FM providers and their clients: work orders, compliance reporting, asset registers and portals, built to run for years rather than quarters.

  • .NET
  • Azure
  • SQL Server
  • Angular

Cloud, data and AI engineering

APIs, data pipelines and document extraction with large language models, deployed on Vercel, AWS and Azure with CI/CD, observability and signed releases.

  • TypeScript
  • Python
  • PostgreSQL
  • Claude
  • GitHub Actions

Facilities management · 2018 to present

Multi-tenant FM reporting platform

A white-label facilities-management platform serving an FM provider and its enterprise clients. ASP.NET Core on Azure with a private network to on-premise data, scheduled reporting, document generation and a tenant-isolated data model. Continuously developed and operated for more than eight years.

Building automation · SaaS

BAS project lifecycle suite with AI drawing extraction

A multi-tenant platform for a building-automation integrator covering the full project lifecycle, with role-based access, equipment schedules extracted automatically from HVAC shop drawings using large language models, and a companion Niagara 4 toolset exposing live station data through a secure tunnel and a conversational interface.

Building automation · Edge

BACnet edge data-acquisition fleet

Python microservices deployed to site gateways, polling BACnet devices directly, buffering through outages, self-healing on controller faults and streaming normalised telemetry to a cloud platform, with a structured QA and handover programme at the end of the engagement.

About

Rise Building Technology is the Australian engineering practice of Raviloshan (Rav) Panchalingam, a software engineer who has worked at the intersection of software and buildings since founding Rise Technology in Brisbane in 2010. Early work included Bitpool, a cloud building-energy data platform, before the practice settled into long-running engineering engagements with automation integrators and facilities-management providers.

The firm is deliberately small. Work is delivered directly by the principal with a small, long-standing group of specialist contractors, which is why engagements tend to last years. Robotics and autonomous-agent work sits with our sister company, Rise Robotics.
